Engineers who have their PE license enjoy higher salaries and faster career advancement, and become qualified to work independently as a consultant.
Increase your chances of passing the PE exam by signing up for The Engineering Society of Detroit's (ESD) review course. Since 1941, ESD has successfully prepared thousands of candidates for the PE licensing exam in a variety of disciplines.
Courses taught include civil, electrical power, environmental and mechanical engineering, along with a wide variety of subspecialties within those disciplines. Participants learn in a small classroom setting from instructors who have first-hand knowledge of the course material.
Let our 74 years of experience help prepare you to pass the exam on your first try.
The Principles & Practice of Engineering (PE) Review Course consists of 24 hours of instruction, on 6 half-day Saturday sessions, focusing on problem solving techniques needed for the Professional Engineer Exam. The review courses presume that you have taken and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam relevant to your discipline but need a “refresher” review of core topics for the PE Exam. Participants will be provided with a comprehensive binder of instructor handouts for the course and to aid them during their exam.
ESD Members – $650*
Non-Members – $850* or pay $749* by joining ESD at the $99 professional rate and receiving the member cost for the review course. A savings of over $100!
Register by July 29, 2016, and save $25.
*Textbooks are not included in the course fees.
The PE exam is an open-book test. For that reason, we strongly encourage you to purchase the Engineering Reference Manual for the PE Exam in your discipline for the course. There are Reference Manuals for Civil Engineering, Electrical-Power, Environmental Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
There are also additional study materials for specific sub-disciplines. Included in Civil Engineering are construction, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources and environmental control systems. Included in Mechanical Engineering are HVAC and refrigeration, mechanical systems and materials, and thermal and fluids systems.

Class Cancellation Policy
If inclement weather or another reason beyond our control causes the cancellation of a class, we will make our best effort to inform students, via e-mail and by phone, and the class will be rescheduled to a later date.
In compliance with the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, these courses are Equal Opportunity Programs. If you have special needs, let us know when registering for the class — or no later than two weeks before the scheduled course start date — and we will make reasonable efforts to provide accommodations.
ESD Guarantee of Success
We're so confident in our classes that if you do not pass the state exam after taking our review course, you may attend the review course a second time for free, except for a small, $50 materials fee, within two years. This offer is contingent on available space in the class, so register early. These courses are designed as an aid to help you prepare for the exam, and are not meant to be a substitute for studying on your own. Significant personal effort is required.
