ESD needs Mentors for its NEW Engineering SMArT DetroitTM Program
Expanding on a successful tradition of supporting youth education in engineering, ESD has developed an exciting new program for high school level students called Engineering SMArT Detroit. With a real-world application of science, math, architecture and technology, students will learn about energy as it relates to their own schools and the environmental challenges within their community. The program will engage students to envision and shape their own communities through their new understanding of energy and cultivate their desire to be active contributors to the sustainability and vitality of their city.
Volunteers
We need help developing lesson plans to enhance an outlined curriculum which includes an understanding of energy, alternative energies and an energy audit.
Mentors
We need professionals from the engineering and technical community to team lead and teach students as they go through the program. Commitment: January – May 2012.
