Special Energy Award Winners

 

The Kroger Company – Outstanding Energy Program

The Kroger Company was awarded the “Outstanding Program” special award for the commercial customer business sector for their corporate achievements involving their “Save 5” program.  This program focused on energy reductions, energy awareness and energy usage tracking at the store level/facility level. Kroger was recognized for their successful energy initiatives that are utilized daily, weekly, monthly, and annually to achieve and maintain energy efficiency savings.

American Axle – Outstanding Energy Program

American Axle was awarded the “Outstanding Program” special award for the industrial customer sector for their corporate achievements in development of their energy management best practices. During 2008, American Axle saved over 50,000 MMBTU in energy worldwide. This program was recognized for strong evidence and commitment to a well conceived energy savings corporate strategy. 

General Motors – Significant Energy Program

General Motors was awarded the “Significant Achievement” special award for the industrial customer sector for their achievements in the development of weekend and holiday shutdown programs. For more than a decade, General Motors has been aggressive in the implementation of energy reduction, efficiency and sustainment strategies.  This award recognizes General Motors for their efforts in their implementation of successful initiatives involving weekend and holiday shutdowns to sustain energy savings during nonproduction periods.

Trane – Outstanding Energy Project

Trane was awarded the “Outstanding Energy Project” special award for the commercial customer business sector for the contributions and implementation of various energy savings initiatives at the Great Lakes Science Center.  This project involved energy conservation measures affecting the following: lighting upgrades, building Automation Controls, Geothermal Heat Pump for heating and cooling and Water Conservation.

The Macomb Center - Significant Energy Project

The Macomb Center was award the “Significant Energy Project” for the commercial customer business sector for the energy savings projects implemented at their 88,846 square foot professional office complex. The project captured numerous energy saving features & devices for lighting (T8 and CFL lamps) and controls (passive infrared occupancy switches), HVAC controls (including VFDs and new fan motors) and building envelope improvements.
