The Dürr Group has been in Southeast Michigan for over 45 years. Consolidation of all of its Michigan locations into one center of excellence was essential to Dürr's continued growth and customer relationships within the North American market.

Dürr transformed an abandoned building containing hazardous materials built on unstable soil, into an ultra-modern, energy efficient center for engineering, research, and equipment testing. The resulting 15 acre Campus is a center of excellence which lends to increased collaboration, communication, and creativity between employees and customers alike.

Built in 1968, the building in Southfield was selected for its central location and architectural uniqueness. As a renovation, the project focused heavily on reusing the space in new ways. To create a more open space, the existing ceiling grid and tile was removed to increase the ceiling height by three feet. Large areas of masonry were removed from the perimeter of the building and replaced with windows, and many of the solid interior partitions were replaced with glass partitions to significantly increase the amount of natural light and views to the exterior from the entire open office areas.

By reusing the existing structure and incorporating innovative, cost-effective energy saving technologies, Dürr is demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and energy conservation.

The newly constructed 100,000 sq. ft. addition holds the Research & Development area and a state-of-the-art center for validation, testing, and training. This flexible area will be used by multiple divisions for new ideas, innovations and technologies.
