Energy Conference & Exhibition 2013
Hosted by DTE Energy and The Engineering Society of Detroit
Theme: Energy Efficiency
CONFERENCE: May 7, 2013
Suburban Collection Showplace, Novi, Michigan
In its 16th year, this conference, the only one of its kind in Michigan, is designed to educate small to large commercial and industrial businesses on energy technology, products, and services that will assist them in successful energy management. The event draws close to 800 people every year. The 2013 Energy Conference and Exhibition’s theme will once again focus on “Energy Efficiency.”
DTE Energy and ESD will announce the winners of the E-Challenge Competition during the Energy conference on May 7, 2013. Companies in Michigan were asked to submit ideas for commercially available energy saving product, material, system, structure, process or methodology that is innovative in application or use.
More than 60 entries were received. Those that pre-qualified for the second phase of judging were awarded funds to test their product. Find out who they are at the conference.
Keynote presenter: Valerie Brader, Deputy Legal Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor to MIGovernor, Rick Snyder
Michigan’s largest energy conference of its kind is back, and we’re inviting you to be a part of it. In its 16th year, the conference has been hailed as the premier event for “advancing energy efficiency and productivity.”
Whether you want to learn about cutting-edge energy efficiency strategies or initiatives; network with energy experts or potential customers; or discover the latest products and services, this conference is the one place where innovation and education come together for one day only.
This year’s conference will also feature a keynote presentation by Valerie Brader, Deputy Legal Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor to Michigan Governor, Rick Snyder. Her service with the administration began in September 2012, as the Chief Energy Policy Officer at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). Previously, she was a member (partner) at Bodman PLC, practicing primarily environmental and corporate law (with a specialization in assisting new or expanding businesses, from incorporation to securing permits and tax credits).
A Rhodes Scholar and published author in both the legal and scientific presses, Mrs Brader previously worked as the career law clerk for the Hon. John Feikens of the Eastern District of Michigan, as an environmental consultant to the EPA and Department of Defense, and for Gov. Phil Batt (R-Idaho) on environmental and natural resource issues. She was the youngest person in the country to be selected to assist a federal court under the "Special Master" rule, was recently selected by Crain’s Detroit Business as one of the “40 under 40” in Metro Detroit and by Michigan Lawyer’s Weekly as a “rising star."
Mrs. Brader received her AB magna cum laude in government from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, has two masters degrees from the University of Oxford and a J.D. magna cum laude from Georgetown Law Center.
