Principles & Practice of Engineering (PE) Exam Process Overview
Michigan requires applicants to be pre-approved to sit for the Principles & Practice of Engineering (PE) Exam. The deadline is January 15, 2017 for the April 21, 2017 exam.
First-time applicants for the PE exam must submit to the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Department, the Application for Professional Engineers License with the application fee; Work Experience Report; five (5) Experience Verification Forms, with at least three (3) signed by licensed professional engineers familiar with the applicant’s work and covering a total of four years of experience; and official transcripts of the applicant’s ABET/EAC or CEAB accredited engineering degree(s) sent to the Department directly from the applicant’s school. PE Exams are administered twice a year, April and October, by NCEES. All of the supporting documents along with the application and fee must be received by the LARA Department by January 15, 2017 to be considered for the April 21, 2017, PE exam.
