MSPE is active in the legislature but also with government agencies, schools, colleges and universities and industry to promote the licensure of engineers. MSPE is involved in MATHCOUNTS, Engineers Week, Michigan Youth Engineering & Science (YES!) Expo and many other events aimed at promoting engineering as a career. MSPE awards over $35,000 annually in scholarships to high school students enrolled in collegiate engineering programs. Twice per year, MSPE honors newly licensed Professional Engineers (PEs) by holding a ceremony at the State Capitol and presenting the new PEs with a wall certificate. MSPE is a Link chapter member with the Order of the Engineer, who promotes "Upholding Devotion to the Standards and Dignity of the Engineering Profession" with a ceremony to receive a stainless steel ring worn on the baby finger of the working hand. MSPE members also provide refreshments to Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and PE exam candidates twice per year at examination centers.
